A number of Management programmes concluded in recent weeks with the popular, challenging and enjoyable consolidation workshops, where the groups are given opportunities to put into practice the various learnings from the course on a final workshop involving a number of outdoor activities.

Leadership Masterclass

Although somewhat depleted by work commitments and illness, the Masterclass programme concluded in spectacular fashion with some unexpected help from two colleagues, Katie and Nick. Unfortunately Nick's rewards for his endeavours was a cold bath as the second of two projects was less than a complete success!

Management Trainees Consolidation Workshop

The Management Trainees completed their 18 month programme with a challenging two days in Ribblesdale, climbing the two of Yorkshire's highest peaks, Whernside, Pen-y-ghent and Ingleborough as well as surveying a section of Great Douk cave. The teams endured some atrocious weather on both days with heavy rain and very strong winds, particularly on the summits. The group learnt some good lessons, applied a lot of learning from the programme, particularly on the second day. The log fires and excellent food at the New Inn provided some consolation and respite from the weather.

Finance Department Coaching and Team-Building Workshop

The Finance department held a two day workshop to review their progress since their team-building event the previous year, and to consider the skills required and the benefits to the team of developing their coaching skills. To practice the skills they all participated in a supervised canoeing session at Otley, learnt some specific techniques and then shared their learning with the rest of the team.

McCain Foods (GB) Ltd Management Development Programme Consolidation Workshop, Coniston Cold, North Yorkshire, October 2005 The MDP group completed their programme with an experiential workshop in the Yorkshire Dales. They were presented with a complex series of inter-related tasks and problems. They planned carefully, splitting the team into sub-groups for the first phase, and scoured the local area for information. After some equipment failures and a missed rendezvous, they stalled for a while, but after some good teamwork and creative problem solving late into the night they refocused and eventually retrieved some liquid treasure to celebrate their success in time honoured fashion!.
